AtariAge Dashboard RSS Feed

AtariAge Dashboard Feed is a plugin based on the excellent Berri Technorati Reactions on Dashboard plugin by Alberto Varela.

Albert Varela’s plugin has been modified to display the AtariAge RSS ( Really Simple Syndication ) feed directly within the WordPress Dashboard. We have a great respect for AtariAge, and everything Atari for that matter, but there isn’t enough time during the busy work week to check in with the site as we would like.

To reconcile this issue, we took a look at the increasing amount of web design involving WordPress and thought it was only logical to add the AtariAge RSS feed to our development sites. We took Alberto Varela’s plugin, modified it, and added a little extra flair such as displaying the publication date, post excerpt, the familiar AtariAge favicon and a customizable configuration panel. Configuration includes: number of posts to display, removal of the post date and removal of the excerpt.

This plugin is dedicated to Albert Yarusso, a great friend and the biggest contributor to keeping the spirit of Atari alive in a world where xBox and Wii are simply implementing a modern vision of what Ralph Baer and the founders of Atari had conceived in the late seventies and early eighties.

Installation

  1. Download the plugin and expand it.
  2. Copy the atariage-dashboard-feed folder into your plugins folder ( wp-content/plugins ).
  3. Log-in to the WordPress administration panel and visit the Plugins page.
  4. Locate the AtariAge Dashboard Feed plugin and click on the activate link.
  5. Visit the Wordpress Dashboard to view the RSS feeds
