Description

Hello HAL is a very simple WordPress plugin based on the famous Hello Dolly plugin created by Matt Mullenweg. "Hello Dolly is not just a plugin, it symbolizes the hope and enthusiasm of an entire generation summed up in two words sung most famously by Louis Armstrong. Hello, Dolly. This is, by the way, the world's first official WordPress Plugin. When enabled you will randomly see a lyric from "Hello, Dolly" in the upper right of your Administration Panels on every page but the Plugins panel."

Hello HAL was created as an introduction into the world of WordPress plugins. The name HAL is derived from HAL 9000 ( or Heuristically programmed ALgorithmic Computer ) an artificial, sentient on-board computer of the spaceship Discovery from Arthur C. Clarke's Space Odyssey saga, which was later made into the 1968 Stanley Kubrick movie 2001: A Space Odyssey

We have removed the Hello Dolly lyrics and replaced them with some of the most memorable, not-so memorable, sometimes funny, science fiction movie quotes. To complete the look, we provide the name of the speaking character as well as the title of the film for reference.

After installing the plugin, the quotes will appear at the top of your WordPress administration panel. With each page refresh or switching of administration screens, the quotes change. Please note the quotes are not displayed on or within the web site itself, and are restricted to the administration panel.

If you're working with an older version of WordPress (2.6.5 and below) and are experiencing issues please refer to the WordPress Plugin Repository to download an older version of Hello HAL.
